Ever since Akash Madhwal claimed a fifer in the IPL 2023 eliminator game, the Mumbai Indians pacer has been making headlines for his sharp bowling prowess and the path he treaded to achieve the feat.
In one such old video that has now surfaced online, the Uttarakhand bowler can be seen bowling on what doesn’t look like a cricket pitch.
For someone who has not played with the red ball till the age of 24, Akash has become the first cricketer from the Uttarakhand state cricket team to play in the IPL.

Last year, Madhawal joined Mumbai Indians as an injury replacement for Suryakumar Yadav and now he has become Rohit Sharma’s go-to bowler, be it with the new ball or in end overs.
Madhwal, who is in some way filling the big boots of Jasprit Bumrah at Mumbai Indians, thanked Rohit Sharma for showing faith in him.
Earlier, during the post-match presentation Rohit Sharma lauded Akash’s skills and character and said: “Akash was part of the team last year as a support bowler, and once Jofra was gone I knew he had skills and the character to do the job for us. It is important to make youngsters feel special and make them feel part of the team, my job is to just make them comfortable in the middle.”
“Rohit bhaiya knows my strength. As a captain, he used me exactly where the team needed me. Later on, I bowled at the nets with the new ball too. So he then thought I can bowl with the new ball too. In the practice matches, I did well to take wickets with the new ball. In the places where he felt confidence in me, he gave me the ball and I did my job,” Madhwal said after the match.
