LUCKNOW: The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (UPATS) busted a pan-India gun running racket from Azamgarh by arresting two of its members on Saturday.
Those arrested were identified as Ramshabd Yadav and Sanjay Yadav. They were arrested from the Mubarakpur area of the district. The ATS also recovered 10 pistols of .32 bore along with ammunition and a car from the possession of the accused.
Additional DG Naveen Arora, told TOI that the gang was operating for the past 10 years and Ramshabd was the kingpin who had 31 FIRs registered in his name since 1985 in Azamgarh.
“Six members of the gang, including the son of Ramshabd are still at large,” said Arora.
The gang used to purchase the pistols at cheaper rates from Madhya Pradesh and Bihar and sell these arms to gangs in the Rajasthan, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh.
