NOIDA: Six persons have been arrested for stealing more than 7,000 earphones worth Rs 20 lakh from an electronics firm in Sector 63.
Cops have recovered around 6,000 of the stolen earphones and a Hyundai Venue car from their possession.
“On Saturday, representatives of Xiaolion Electronic Pvt Ltd, which manufactures earphones for Oppo, filed an FIR at Sector 63 police station alleging around 7,200 earphones worth Rs 20 lakh had been stolen. Acting on the information provided, police arrested the six accused from the parking lot of D Park in Noida,” said Rajiv Dixit, additional DCP (central Noida).
According to the cops, four of the accused worked at the electronics company and had colluded with the two others to pull off the theft. During interrogation, suspects told cops they had been planning the theft for months and executed it once they learnt how to tamper with the company’s CCTV cameras on YouTube.
Three of the accused – Dinesh, Amarpal Yadav and Ravish Kumar – were maintenance workers at the company, while Surendra was a security guard. The four men had sold the earphones to Rajat Kumar and Pradeep Nagpal, who own a mobile accessories shop in Karol Bagh, Delhi, police said.
