MEERUT: A retired sub-inspector Virendra Singh Tomar, 60, was allegedly shot at from point-blank range during his morning walk in the Tejvihar locality under KankarKheda Police limits on Friday.
SP (city) Piyush Kumar said, “It has come to light that the retired SI, along with seven others, was named in a complaint filed by Umresh Devi, a resident of Kankarkheda region, on May 23. The complainant alleged that the SI had falsified property records using forged documents. Today’s incident has raised concerns surrounding the retired SI himself. The SI alleges the attackers are the complainant’s family members.”
No FIR has been filed in the matter yet.
