LESA team caught 33 households for power theft in Lucknow | Lucknow News – Times of India



LUCKNOW: The Lucknow Electricity Supply Administration (LESA) team conducted raids in various parts of the city and caught 28 households in power pilferage.
The raids were conducted in Mashalchitola, Deen Dayal Nagar, Murai Tola area of Trans Gomti limits and in Gola Sadar Bazaar, Mall avenue, Subhani Kheda of CIS Gomti limits.
In Khadra, the LESA Trans Gomti team had to rope in local police to control the situation, after the team started disconnecting power supply of those households which had bypassed the meter to use power in order to run air conditioners.
Speaking to TOI, Anil Tiwari the LESA Trans chief said, “The team caught 60 kW of power pilferage in 19 households, with one of the defaulters using 10kW of power after bypassing the meter to run a heavy duty machine in his small scale shoe factory of shoe. The team also caught nine air conditioners in households which had been run with power theft.”
“After the raid, power supply in the area has improved drastically and no overloading has been reported till evening,” he added.
FIRs were lodged against 21households based on the complaint of executive engineer A K Rai of the area.
Meanwhile, LESA CIS caught 12 households in power theft.
