Shahina Qureshi Murder Case: 5 Days After Recovery Of Woman’s Headless Body, Father Arrested For Murder | Meerut News
MEERUT: Five days after the recovery of a young woman’s headless body in the Lisari Gate locality of Meerut, police arrested her father, 50-year-old Shahid Qureshi, for the murder. Cops alleged that Shahid killed his daughter, 25-year-old Shahina Qureshi, as she was “in love with someone he disapproved of and had even eloped with him once”.
The body was found wrapped in a sheet on the road outside a local graveyard on the morning of August 12. Police said they found it “extremely difficult” to identify the body as there was no head and no other identification on the person of the victim. They added that when the murderer could not throw the body over the wall into the graveyard, they left it on the road only.
Circle officer of Kotwali, Arvind Chaurasia, said, “It was a blind case. However, just a few days ago, we received a tip-off from someone who revealed the woman’s name and address. The rest was easy. The father is the main culprit. He is in our custody and there is a possibility that other members of the family may have also been involved as the murder took place inside the house.”
